collaborating since last spring with several state and local organizations,
including the Sierra Club, on a Transportation Equity project in
<st1:place><st1:PlaceName>Waukesha</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType>County</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> in particular, and the State
of <st1:State><st1:place>Wisconsin</st1:place></st1:State> in
general.</FONT></P>

<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3 face="Times New Roman">We helped organize a Waukesha County Transportation
workshop in <st1:City><st1:place>Waukesha</st1:place></st1:City> on September
14, which was attended by over 80 people, including County Executive Paul Farrow
and several state, county, and local government representatives, employers, and
users and providers of public or subsidized transportation services. The purpose
of the workshop was to bring transportation users and providers together to
mutually understand what is needed, what the priorities are, and what we can do.
It was clear that the needs are there and that plans have been formulated
(by <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">SEWRPAC</I>, the South East Wisconsin
Regional Planning Commission) to identify and meet the needs, but these
recommendations have been largely ignored by our elected officials for various
reasons.</FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><o:p><FONT size=3 face="Times New Roman"> </FONT></o:p></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3 face="Times New Roman">The next big event by our coalition will be a state
Transportation Equity Summit in
<st1:City><st1:place>Milwaukee</st1:place></st1:City> on December 3. This is
your opportunity to get in on the “ground floor” to act to learn about and get
actual change to happen. You are invited to attend the next Green Sanctuary
Committee meeting on Sunday October 9, or the next coalition planning meeting at
LCUUC on October 26 from <st1:time Hour="9" Minute="0">9AM – 11AM to find out
how you can get involved.</st1:time> </FONT></P>
