kathie.gorski@gmail.com
>
>
> Greetings everyone
who signed up for the LCUUC Circle Dinners!
>
> I think
we are good to go. I’m attaching the table rotations for all
>
four
> dinners, for your planning purposes. In the table
rotations, the hosts of
> each get-together are highlighted in
yellow in the first column, and the
> attendees’ names run
across the rows. For those who signed up as
> individuals, you
will see that you are paired with the same individual for
> the
four dinners. This year an exact number signed up, so there are no
> blocks listed as “Substitute A” etc. I am attaching the most
current
> directory so you can obtain contact info easily.*
>
>
> *Everyone:* You will want, first thing, to
note where your name appears in
> each of the four table rotations
so you know when you host and when you
> participate as a guest
… and then get the dates on your calendar.
>
>
> *Hosts:* At least a month before the date of the dinner that you'll
be
> hosting (and right now for hosts for the November 15
dinner!), check
> whether the original date works for you. If it
does, great – notify your
> guests to see if they can all make
it. If you’re lucky, everyone can
> make
> it, but if
not, you may want to try to find an alternate date when most
>
but
> preferably all can attend (using a Doodle calendar at
doodle.com is a good
> way to find an alternate date). If, on the
other hand, the original date
> does not work for you as host, you
will want to propose alternative dates
> to your attendees (again,
consider using doodle.com). Once you’ve chosen
> an
>
alternate date for the dinner, notify your attendees and ask them to
> confirm their attendance. Whether it is the original or a
rescheduled
> date,
> when you contact your guests to
confirm their attendance, let them know
> how
> you plan
to host** and request any info on dietary or other restrictions.
>
I
> know at least one participant eats no meat or fish, so do
please check
> with
> your guests.
>
>
> *About substitutes:* Regardless of whether you host on the
original or a
> changed date, if any attendees are not able to
participate in the dinner,
> please reach out to find substitutes
to fill in empty spots at your
> dinner.
> This year only
one couple signed up as substitutes (Lynne and Phil Smith),
> so
seeking substitutes may be more involved than in the past. Keep in mind
> that Circle Dinners are a great way for new members and
prospective
> members
> to get to know us, so asking those
folks to attend as substitutes is
> strongly encouraged.
>
>
> *Attendees:* Once the hosts contact you and the date
of the dinner is
> set, *please,
> please, please* get
back to them right away to confirm your attendance. If
> you are
*not able* to attend, it is still very important to let the hosts
> know so they have time to find substitutes. The only negative
feedback I
> have received about our Circle Dinners is from hosts
who did not hear back
> from folks who were not able to attend,
which led to time-consuming
> follow-up with those non-respondents
or empty seats at the table, and also
> meant that substitutes did
not have a chance to join in.
>
>
> Feel free to
contact me with any questions, and I will do my best to help.
>
Enjoy your dinners!
>
> Kathie
>
>
*Regarding contact information, I am attaching a PDF of the LCUUC
> directory,
> up-to-date as of October 2015. However, a few
folks added supplemental
> information when they signed up. I am
listing that below. Please note!
>
>
> Elisabeth

Often the hosts indicate an entrée they plan to make and ask attendees
> to choose what they would like to bring (or just assigns the sides,
etc.):
> an appetizer, salad, drinks, vegetable, bread, dessert,
etc., but you can
> handle any way you like.
>
